If you would like to lose weight, consider the following SmartWeight™ tips:
- Think positively - you can lose weight and believing it is the most important characteristic of poeple who have successfully lost weight.
- Introduce vareity into your diet - this is best done with a knowledgeable nutritionist
- Cut out the fat without cutting out the taste - use herbs and spices instead of sauces and gravy for seasoning and use non stick cooking utensils and other cooking methods that don't involve using fat.
- Portion control is important particularly when you eat out with friends or in restaurants.
- Try recording what and how much you eat in a food diary - it becomes surprisingly revealing.
- Exercise regularly - even brisk walking for an hour a day will help maintain the weight you have lost.
- Create opportunities to be active - use the stairs instead of an elevator and don't shy away from parking a few blocks away from your final destination. Go out to buy something at lunchtime.
- Be prepared for lapses or occasional weight gain. If a lapse occurs try to talk about it with an informed nutritionist who will advise you on your weight management programme.
