Choose more often:
- Granary or seeded breads
- Low fat spread instead of butter or no spread
- Fillings such as ham, tuna, salmon, poultry, beef, egg or cottage cheese, roasted vegetables, low fat cream cheese
- Ask for low fat yogurt as alternative dressing
- Container of salad as extra or roasted vegetables, tomato or grated vegetables in sandwich
- Baked potato (no butter) with baked beans, cottage cheese, vegetable chilli/curry, tuna without mayonnaise, baked beans plus side salad
- Current bun or scone with jam and no butter
Avoid in general:
- Mayonnaise, salad cream, coleslaw
- Cream cheese or too much full fat cheese
- Triple decker, deep fill or 3 sandwich packs
- Fried foods, e.g. sausage or bacon.
- Pastry, fresh cream cake or chocolate cake
