Choose more often:

  • Grilled/ microwave poppadoms
  • Pick out the meat/ vegetable and leave the sauce or choose: dahl, dhansak, tandoori, tikka, karia and bhuna, dry vegetable curries/ spinach based dishes (saag).
  • Small kebabs - chicken or prawn with plain boiled rice
  • Green undressed salads
  • Chapatti without added fat, tandoori roti, plain boiled Basmati rice

Avoid in general: 

  • Fatty/ sugary sauces e.g. korma, masala, pasanda
  • Samosas, bhajis, pakoras, Peshwari, paratha, puris, naan bread, poppadoms
  • Dishes made with ghee
  • High fat rice: Pilau, biryani, egg fried
  • Vegetables with added oil
