Choose more often:
- Grilled/ microwave poppadoms
- Pick out the meat/ vegetable and leave the sauce or choose: dahl, dhansak, tandoori, tikka, karia and bhuna, dry vegetable curries/ spinach based dishes (saag).
- Small kebabs - chicken or prawn with plain boiled rice
- Green undressed salads
- Chapatti without added fat, tandoori roti, plain boiled Basmati rice
Avoid in general:
- Fatty/ sugary sauces e.g. korma, masala, pasanda
- Samosas, bhajis, pakoras, Peshwari, paratha, puris, naan bread, poppadoms
- Dishes made with ghee
- High fat rice: Pilau, biryani, egg fried
- Vegetables with added oil
